Doris W. Doak passed away on November 30, 2010 at over 100 years of age. She was best
known for playing the piano with the "Pep Tones" at seniors' dances in West Seattle, Greenwood Senior Center and Bitter Lake Community Center for over 25 years until illness overtook her in 2008 at age 98. The family is very grateful to the Swedish Hospice nurses who lovingly cared for her during this time. They were her angels! Doris's infectious smile and positive spirit touched the lives of many. She learned to play the piano when she was 11 and it was a part of her life ever since. When you walked into Rhodes Ten Cent Store in the 1950's you could hear Doris playing the piano as she sold sheet music there. She also spent many years at Capital Music Co. at the Terminal Sales Bldg selling wholesale sheet music and finally at Sherman Clay across from the Bon Marche until she retired in 1985. She was a great-great-great grandmother with over 30 grandchildren and is survived by her daughters, Shirley Koval and Jo Lynn Sansom, and her sons, Kenneth and Larry Doak. A memorial service will be held at the Woodland Park Presbyterian Church at 70th and Greenwood Ave N. on Monday, December 6, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the church of which Doris was a long-time member. We are all comforted in the fact that she is with the Lord enjoying His peace and love.
